Tips For Washing Your Stuffed Animals
Stuffed animals accumulate dust very easily and need to be kept clean and hygienic. Nowadays, the material used for the stuffing of most animals can be machine-washed, and there is no harm done to it. But, sometimes the delicate or the finer animals need to be dry cleaned, and they cannot be washed in water. So, the first and the foremost thing that should be taken into account is the washing instructions that come along with the toy or is clearly written on the tag attached to it. Follow the instructions, if they are typical, so that no harm is done to the stuffed animal, or the material used in it.
If the stuffed animal can be machine washed you should take a little bit of more care and put them in a pillow case and tie a light knot at the end. Before putting it into the washing machine, look for any loose stitches so that the stuffing does not come out while you wash. Run the washing machine on gentle wash and put only the detergent and no bleach in it. Try to use scent free and dye free detergent so that no harm is done to the stuffed animal. After the washing is done you can put the animal on a big absorbent towel and let it dry. These cleaning tips are for regular cleaning but if there is a spot on the animal that needs to be cleaned then you will have either dry the area and brush it off in the case of mud or clay spot. But if it is a bit stubborn dirt then you will have to hand wash it with the help of light detergent and let it air dry.
Before washing your stuffed animals you should keep in mind some points so that there is no damage done to them. Check out if there is any loose seam so that you should stitch it up before putting the toy in the washing machine. This is very important because the stuffing will come out from the loosely stitched or open area of the toy. Do not machine-wash the toy that is firmly stuffed because the stuffing might shift from its place and the animal will loose its original shape. If your toy is just slightly soiled you can use the vacuum cleaner brush and gently brush it off. You can also dry wash your stuffed toy by sprinkling baking soda on it and leave it on for 20 minutes. Then you can either shake it away or brush it off.
Washing your stuffed animal is very important and can be done very easily if it is machine washable. But if the stuffing is tender, then you will have to follow the instructions from the company before washing it. In any case keep the stuffed animals clean and tidy so that your daughter is safe from any allergic problem. You should also keep in mind that if the stuffed animal has a sound box in it,it cannot be put into the washing machine.
