Healing Wounds With Aloe Vera

14 Jun.

Most of us have suffered from cuts and wounds on our skin at some point in our lives, and for the most part they can take quite a long time to completely heal up. However one way of reducing the healing time is to use aloe vera.

Many people regard the aloe vera plant as being one of nature’s great miracles because of the many different health benefits associated with the plant and it’s extract. It’s long been known for it’s medicinal qualities and has been used for thousands of years, with even famous historical figures such as Cleopatra and Alexander the Great said to have been users of aloe vera in their time.

Aloe vera is particularly effective at treating the skin and is renowned for it’s ability to help treat cuts and wounds, but why is this?

Well one of the main qualities of aloe vera is that it acts as a very good moisturiser first and foremost. This is important because wounds need plenty of moisture if they are going to heal properly. Just applying a dry dressing is okay but you are starving the wound of any moisture and can damage the wound further when you come to remove the dressing, which will obviously delay the healing process.

So to get most benefit from aloe vera you can either apply an aloe vera cream or gel directly onto the affected area of the skin, or you can take an aloe vera juice or a pill such as Aloeride which will help heal the wound from within the body. Either way you will help moisturise the wound.

Another great quality of aloe vera is that it is very good at reducing inflammation. Therefore by using aloe vera you can quickly reduce the inflammation around the cut or wound and ease the pain, as well as helping speed up the healing process.

Aloe vera also contains around 75 essential nutrients and is said to increase the flow of blood to the skin and increase cell proliferation. It also helps to cleanse the affected wound of any germs. Furthermore if there is a specific medical condition that is causing the skin wounds, then aloe vera can be consumed in liquid or capsule form to help boost the immune system and help to prevent you from getting any wounds in the future.

So aloe vera is generally regarded as being one of the most effective treatment for cuts and wounds because of it’s anti-inflammatory properties and it’s ability to promote healing of the skin. Plus of course that’s not to mention all the other skin conditions it can help treat such as acne, eczema and psoriasis.
