Top 5 Reasons Americans Are Overweight

23 Jun.
Posted by healbody08 in Alternative Medicine | No Comments

To understand how to lose weight, one must first understand the basics of why we grow fat in the first place. You cannot cure a problem by managing its symptoms, you first have to understand the source of the problem and only then, can you begin to take the proper steps to reverse the effects. So the real question to ponder is WHY am I fat and how did I get that way.

Have you ever wondered why an estimated 40% of Americans suffer from Obesity or Obesity related illness? Think about it, 4 out of every 10 people are overweight in this country. Its not surprising when you take a closer look at the world we live in.

Americans simply do not live very active, healthy lives. We eat drink and sleep in excess. We often choose fast food over home prepared whole foods or for some of us we start the day with a cup of coffee and eat a large dinner late when we get home from work. If we are lucky we take lunch a few times a week. Its no wonder we are gaining weight more now than ever before.

Overtime our bodies natural system for processing and eliminating the waste stops working effectively. You see the body is, among other things, designed to be a perfectly made filtration system. What goes in, must come out. If you are not experiencing at least 3 bowel movements every day you are carrying and storing dangerous toxins and exposed to the harmful effects from these toxins in the form of disease or illness. Even a chronic feeling of fatigue can be linked to this.

Your liver protects you from these toxins, but if the bowels stop eliminating regularly, then the liver is set to the task of finding someplace to store these dangerous toxins. It then signals the body to create fat cells to store toxins so that they do not spill into our system and damage our organs and tissue.

You see, your body creates fat cells to protect you from the toxins caused by the waste stuck inside you.

Ok, now for the gross stuff, but important nonetheless. Humans who suffer from being overweight or obese are actually victims of the bodies natural defense mechanism. The reason diets do not work for 95% of those that try them is because they do not focus on what the cause of the weight gain is. Waste elimination is a vital part of our bodies natural functioning and if it breaks down, we get fat. It is as simple as that.

Recent research has shown that by periodic colon cleansing you can help to remove the built up waste and toxins stuck inside you right now. This type of cleansing causes the mucous layer or plaque build up in your colonic lining to flush out, like the shedding of dead skin to leave a clean and renewed lining that can function properly. The other important reason to get this stuff out of you ASAP is that this waste not only poisons the body but festers various parasites that live in our bowels, disgusting I know, but very true. Once the bowels are cleansed the body then does not need the fat cells it created to store overages of toxins, so the body naturally begins the process of healing itself and the fat begins to melt away.

Studies have been shown that humans can hold in as much as 100 lbs of waste in their system, especially those suffering from extreme obesity. Thats toxic weight! Not to mention the added fat your body piled on protecting you from the toxins in the first place.

So the Top 5 Reasons Americans are overweight along with solutions to each:

1. Poor Diet - Eat whole foods, avoid processed foods
2. Lack of Exercise - Walk 20 minutes a day, take the stairs
3. Poor Metabolic Functions - Eat 5 Small Meals Throughout Day and Have Last Meal 3 Hours Before Bed
4. Fad Diets - They do not work, in some cases they worsen the bodies ability to naturally regulate its own weight.
5. Lack of knowledge available to the public about why we get FAT.

The Solution to long lasting weight lose is to first make sure your natural digestive system has its best chances of functioning properly. A annual cleansing routine will help to maintain a healthy body and along with results comes the desire to eat better and live a more active lifestyle.

Acupuncture and the Increasing Malpractice Problem - Do I Have A Case?

In America, there always seem to be lawyers that hatch right from the soil, ready to sue for most everything. With the amounts and frequency, acupuncture malpractice insurance has become a necessity.

There are people who believe that if they aren’t healed that they have been treated wrong and the practitioner is to blame. This might have merit in western medicine with the drugs and surgery performed wrongly and a person being crippled for life. With acupuncture, the medicine isn’t looking to do surgery or condone the use of pharmaceuticals, the acupuncturist is working with energy to find the areas or pathways that are blocking the energy that is needed to feel better and stop the pain that many people have. The people who use the acupuncture are trying to stop the pain and are trying anything to not have to have surgery. This mindset is what usually stirs the pot for acupuncture malpractice.

There are many companies that offer acupuncture malpractice. Some have a lot of experience in defending the acupuncturist and others have very little practical experience. One of the problems with acupuncture malpractice is that it ends up costing the practitioner so much that the price ends up being paid by the future patients. Without acupuncture malpractice, a person can lose the practice and everything that they own.

Acupuncture Malpractice Reasons

There have been studies done to track the level of malpractice suits in both the western medical practices and the acupuncture practices. The end result is that it’s very similar in both cases. The malpractice was almost a mirror image of people who sued for malpractice. Many people who bring an acupuncture malpractice case don’t usually do it right away. It’s usually after some time and for many different reasons. Some people believe that if they get an entirely different symptom after seeing an acupuncturist that they can sue for that.

In the eyes of the law, new symptoms are not grounds to sue on but the practice can’t afford to gamble and has malpractice insurance to cover them anyways. The easiest reason for a suit against a practitioner is when the practitioner fails to detect an underlying condition that a person might have. If the patient ends up having damage due to a heart attack or other serious reason, the patient can sue and will probably win in a judgment. The problem is that practitioners are people also and being human, they are prone to make mistakes every once in a while.

Self Acupuncture and Healthy Living

Self acupuncture! How on earth is it possible for any everyday Joe to walk into a natural medicine store and ask for something as potentially risky as a self acupuncture kit? Is this the next wave of New Age medicine to hit the mainstream? Alongside books on beginning Aromatherapy at the local Barnes and Noble, are we now to find books on acupuncture at home?

History of Self Acupuncture:

Looking to find a way to help patients who require frequent acupuncture sessions but need to save money, Dr. Zu De Ye developed the concept of self acupuncture while performing research at the University of Arizona. Since then, self acupuncture has become a staple at many traditional Chinese medical clinics across the United States.

How Self Acupuncture Works:

Following in 3000 years of Chinese medical tradition, self acupuncture uses the same concepts of Qi (chi) and meridians to provide relief from a variety of ailments. The difference is that now patients can treat themselves between visits to their professional practitioner, which effectively cuts down cost as well as provides interim pain relief.

Risks:

Pain relief at home! Is it possible? Isn’t it risky? Because acupuncture is a low-risk medical practice, it is possible to perform it at home without too much concern. Dr. Ye created needles that are sterile but small, which greatly reduces any potential risks. In fact, one of the greatest risks is that nothing will happen, because the patient hasn’t correctly used the needle.

Fractal Theory:

In the same tradition as Korean Hand Acupuncture that operates under the concept that a small part of the body can correspond to the whole, the fractal theory, self acupuncture functions by stimulating precise areas that signify organ systems. In other words, a patient can pinpoint certain trouble spots (e.g. kidneys) simply by placing small needles in very precise places on their bodies at home!

How Can I Perform Self Acupuncture?

Self Acupuncture isn’t as simple as running down to your local Barnes and Noble and picking up a copy of Acupuncture for Beginners: it is currently only a part of many treatment regimens prescribed by professional acupuncturists. Although someday it may be possible to go to a bookstore and pick up such a book, it is highly unlikely that such a venture will be as successful as seeking help from a trained professional and using self acupuncture as a part of that treatment. This way, he can train you regarding your needs and the proper location for the needles.

Seven Action Steps to Vibrant Health!

20 Jun.
Posted by tropicalabundance in Alternative Medicine | No Comments

There are countless alternative health modalities you can use to gain vibrant health. I have covered seven action steps that I feel are most important. Here are seven action steps to vibrant health:

Action step 1. Emotional Healing: The Foundation of Vibrant Health. The most important key to vibrant health is letting go of any anger and resentment we may be carrying and forgiving anyone we feel has wronged us. Practice being thankful. All blessings flow to one who has a thankful heart.

For clearing negative emotions or phobias learn EFT:Emotional Freedom Technique, ( An easy to learn technique that really works.)Do a search on Google for EFT and you will find a lot of videos and free information.

Action Step 2. Deep Breathing: Most people breath shallow, only filling the top of their lungs. Science has proven that cancer is anaerobic - it does not survive in high levels of oxygen. Shortness of breath and heart disease are directly linked - the heart goes into spasm when it is deprived of oxygen.Studies have shown that there is a high correlation between high blood pressure and poor breathing. Most emotional issues, including anxiety and depression, result from the nervous system being out of balance. Breathing drives the nervous system.

Optimal Breathing helps to promote weight loss. Oxygen burns fat and calories.Breathing well is the key to sleeping well and waking up feeling rested. Breathing provides 99% of your energy. Without energy, nothing works. For more info, Google the words: “optimal breathing”

Action Step 3. Eat a Vegan diet: Vegan means no animal products like meat, fish, eggs or dairy products or anything containing these. Eat over 50% percent raw, organically grown, local, in season fruits and vegetables.

We are what we eat. Food from nature are filled with enzymes and nutrients that are highly synergistic interactive complexes. Synergy means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, that the relationship, which the parts have to each other, is the most catalytic, most empowering, most unifying, most functional or effective part.

Synergy means that 1 + 1 may equal 8, 24, or even 1,600. Synergistic function produces more and better results than any action of any part separated from the whole. For more information on eating a vegan diet read any of John Robbins books.

Action Step 4. Get Aerobic Exercise: For at least ten minutes per day, jog, jump on a trampoline, or do something to make your heart pump and your lungs work.

Action Step 5. Drink plenty of pure clean water: Hexagonal water moves more rapidly into your cells providing superior hydration, enhanced nutrient absorption, and more efficient detoxification.

In the recently translated book, “The Water Puzzle and the Hexagonal Key”, Dr. Mu Shik Jhon explains that hexagonal water is the functional water unit within the body. According to his research, the hexagonal water structure surrounds healthy tissues, protects the DNA and supports a variety of metabolic functions. His research shows that both disease and aging are linked to a loss of hexagonal water in the body.

According to Dr. Mu Shik Jhon, aging is the process of losing hexagonally-structured water that leads to reduced mineral status, specifically calcium that directly affect muscle, bone, and nerve function. For more info Google the words,”hexagonal water”

Step 6. Have Healthy Habits: Eliminate from your life all self destructive habits like smoking, mind altering drugs, and alcohol. These don’t have any place in a vibrant healthy lifestyle.

Action Step 7.. Consciously Renew Yourself : We break down and replace over twenty four billion cells a day.The Stomach lining is replaced every 5 days, with some cells being replaced every time there is digestion. The skeleton cellular structure is renewed every three months. Protein is renewed every 6 months. 98% of the total atoms are replaced in one year’s time. The whole body is comprised of totally new cells from 7 years ago. Because our cellular structure has “memory”, it retains what we feed it, emotionally and physically. No, you are not the same person your whole life. You grow and change, physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, constantly expanding upon the energies of the universe.

The Point Of Treating Acne With Acupuncture

20 Jun.

Sticking needles in your body to treat acne? Isn’t that overkill?

Surprisingly, no. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years in China and the East, and one of the benefits is that the skin tends to clear up. Some with painful cystic acne that can leave scars find long lasting help treating acne with acupuncture. Your pimples or cysts are’t usually punctured by the special, slender acupuncture needles. You usually get treatment on your ear.

It Is For Real

At one time, Western medical circles were very skeptical of the Chinese practice of acupuncture (inserting needles into special places on the body called acupuncture pionts). But after decades of study, it is starting to be embraced (albeit carefully) by conventional as well as alternative healers around the world. Although it looks very painful, a trained acupuncturist knows where to insert the needles painlessly. Acupuncture works for animals, even the notoriously skittish Thoroughbred racehorse, often making the animal go into a deep state of relaxation.

Like a lightning rod attracts and directs the immense power of lightning, so an acupuncture needle attracts and re-directs the energy currents of the body. An acupuncture treatment can zone in on one specific area of complaint, but often you are asked about your entire medical history so your whole body can be worked. Acupuncture is called a holistic form of treatment, since your entire body, emotions and stress levels are also seen as having powerful effects on your health. Treating acne with acupuncture is not as far-fetched as it might first sound.

The Finer Details

It is thought that hormone imbalance can cause the body secrete more oils than it really should. Treating acne with acupuncture can help regulate your body’s hormone output, and thus make your skin clearer. Treating acne with acupuncture isn’t a magic cure-all, though. You still have to eat a balanced diet, wash yourself consistently and avoid heavy makeup or products that might irritate your skin.

Sometimes treating acne with acupuncture can be covered by some health insurance, but often it isn’t. Keep the costs in mind, as well as your doctor or dermatologists advice, when considering treating your acne with acupuncture. Even acupuncturists say that the best way to combat acne is by preventative means. Your doctor or dermatologist might even know of an acupuncturist to recommend to you. You may have to go for as many as twenty or thirty treatments. Acupuncture can also help with other skin diseases like psoriasis, dermatitis and warts.

Acupuncture Malpractice Insurance - How Vital Is It?

20 Jun.
Posted by mrscott21 in Alternative Medicine | No Comments

If you are planning on visiting an acupuncturist, one of the first things you should find out is whether they have valid acupuncture malpractice insurance.

This might seem a strange route to take; it almost seems as if you’re expecting something to go wrong. But it’s merely a way to find out what protection you will be afforded if something should go wrong. As with any kind of medical practice, your own health and needs are paramount and the same is no exception when it comes to acupuncture.

What Should I Be Looking For?

Acupuncture malpractice insurance basically covers an acupuncturist to perform treatments on their patients. But it doesn’t always cover every single treatment they may decide is needed, so check with them first to make sure the solution they are recommending for you is included.

All this might sound as though acupuncture malpractice insurance has been created to cover the acupuncturist against hundreds of court cases. This is not so, and you should not worry that any acupuncturist is going to cause more problems than they solve. It is merely wise to make sure they have coverage in case any problems do occur just as you would for anything else you have done, whether of a medical nature or not.

Knowing whether or not an acupuncturist has acupuncture malpractice insurance is one quick way to find out how reputable they are. If they have coverage they should be more than happy to tell you. If they try to evade any particular questions, such as whether or not they have ever been sued by a patient (regardless of the outcome), you might be better off searching for an alternative practice.

A Fairly New Approach

Acupuncture malpractice insurance is actually a reasonably new form of insurance that has become more popular as acupuncture itself has become more widespread and accepted.

An easy way to familiarise yourself with an individuals business before you even see them is to find out whether or not they have a website. Most reputable acupuncturists will have some kind of web presence, and they are usually only too pleased to state they have acupuncture malpractice insurance as a way of protecting both themselves and their patients.

In short, acupuncture is now recognised as an alternative form of treatment in many circles, and it is indeed vital that all providers should present a professional image. If you find that someone does not have full insurance coverage, the alarm bells should start to go off.

Using Aromatherapy Oils Then And Now

20 Jun.
Posted by AnnaStenning in Alternative Medicine | No Comments

For many centuries, aromatherapy oils have been used as the alternative point of treating minor illnesses and ailments. Its historical roots can be traced as far back as ancient Egypt, whereby these were used to fragrant the body and for religious rituals. The Egyptians mastered the art of producing fragrant perfumes, incense sticks and fragrant herbs to create an aromatic smell. It was not until the ancient Greeks discovered this form of aromatherapy as an essential part of medical research and treatment.

The first known Greek physician Asclepius had used a combination of herbs and surgery to treat patience and heal wounds, minor infections, diseases and illnesses. Hippocrates was one of the most famous Greek physicians and one of the first to dismiss the Egyptian belief that illnesses were caused by supernatural influences. His theory was that patients should be diagnosed after having been observed by the doctor and after careful considerations of their symptoms.

He used aromatherapy oils, herbs and flowers to treat patients having studied some of their effects on certain ailments. He also believed that surgery should only be used as a last resort, having used other treatments for a period and observing the effects. His works were recorded in a book entitled ‘The History of Plants’, which has become an important study for botanical science. Hippocrates is often referred to as the founder of botany.

Following on the year’s aromatherapy oils had their uses in treating world war two veterans. Pharmacist Rene-Maurice Gattefosse studied the principles and effects of essential oils for medicinal purposes. After an explosion in the laboratory, Gattafosse was left with a severe burn on his hand, which caused him to plunge his arm in pure lavender oil. Instantly his hand began to reduce in swelling and accelerated the healing process. From then on, he continued his research believing that essential oils were potent enough for healing scars.

The dramatic healing process of Gattefosse’s hand (leaving no scars) lead to his strong passion of essential oils and influenced him to publish his groundbreaking book ‘Aromatherapie: Les Huiles essentielles hormones vegetales’. This influenced others to follow his example to treat serious ailments such as gangrene by French doctor Jean Valnet, who followed Gattefosse’s work. Valnet used chamomile, oil of clove, lemon and thyme to treat gangrene and battle wounds for world war two soldiers.

In our contemporary age aromatherapy oils is complimented well with homeopathic medicine, alternative healing and even used in hospital. In 2004 the BBC reported that aromatherapy oils can kill the MRSA superbug. This was tested using some of the popular oils used for aromatherapy; the results showed that instead of stimulating fungi activity or bacteria, it killed the superbug off in two minutes.

MRSA (Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) has been a serious problem for a number of years killing approximately 5,000 each year. With the last discovery now, nearly four years ago, this has helped to prevent the spread of the superbug virus and instigate strict orders for visitors and patients to use the designated hand wipes and wash solutions every time they enter a ward.

Anna Stenning uses aromatherapy oils to treat minor ailments and as a sueful product for relaxation. For more information visit http://www.neoils.com/
