Digg is used to discover and share content from anywhere on the internet. It can be done by voting for some news, submitting and commenting on others news or story.

Can someone use Digg to get free traffic to a website? It’s quite controversial; on the one hand there are many who believe it’s hard. And on the other hand some people have been successful. It looks like people have extreme opinions about it. Here success lies in being at the first page of the site. If your content is on the first page you are sure to expect hundreds if not thousands free visitor at your site.

It is worth giving it a try as it does not require any kind of monetary investment. Yes it does require time to invest.

One can submit content to Digg, and then rely on other people to vote for it. That is what Digg is; to be on the first page one needs fairly good number of votes. There is a tough competition here. If you can get someone else to submit the content, that is better, and will give you a higher chance of getting the votes.

Key is to attract the reader’s attention quickly. This means that having an interesting headline and quality content. Readers are likely to read limited number of articles only. One needs to give them a compelling reason to read.

Focus on topics which are current and hot right now, how to know which topics are hot and which are not? One way is to go through newspaper front page or television news. Once you have identified the topic, do some research about it, and create content on the topic. Make sure you do not copy paste something from any newspaper or news channel, you may end up violating copy right laws.

Other way is to go to yahoo, MSN and look for most searched news or topic, than create content around it. You can even ask for others opinion also. You are likely to get higher votes if you follow this,

Also remember that readers are more likely to vote for something which can solve any of their problems or add any value to their knowledge level. Key here is to know something about a product category which others may be interested to know. So if you write keeping readers in mind you will certainly get higher votes and ranking on first page, which will in turn bring free traffic to your website.

Why Is Social Media Marketing So Important?

27 May.
Posted by canuckbob in Building Traffic | Comments Off

Social Media Marketing is a modified term of conventional Product and Service Marketing. Social marketing is not about advertising, at least not advertising on its own. It is the art of getting others to talk about your brand or products. Social marketing is the future so learning to get it right is very important.

It’s about finding your customers where they are. Social marketing is not simply buying a banner ad campaign that runs on a social network. It uses marketing techniques to generate discussion and promote information, attitudes, values and behaviors. The benefits of marketing in this way are far too numerous to ignore.

One of the benefits of embracing Social Media Marketing campaigns is Traffic from the Social Network. Traffic is great for any website where the business model is based on site session numbers, page views, advertising impressions and CPC metrics.

As with any form of internet marketing, your campaign needs to be really well thought out, and you must spend a fair amount of time on planning strategy and creating exceptional content. This is followed by promoting and monitoring and tracking the results closely. Take your time and consider your campaign setup carefully, but be sure to get out and participate in this Internet Marketing strategy. Social Marketing is critical to the Internet Marketing Mix.

Many marketers are unsure of how to approach marketing in the social networks or even if they should approach it. The primary aim of social marketing by its original definition is social good, while in commercial marketing the aim is primarily financial.

When compiling your Social Media Network Strategy always keep in mind your customer base and what they want. Do they participate in the social networks online and is this something they would like to see your business involved with. If the answer is yes you might want to start by adding a Blog to your website.

If your employees are into the social networking scene ask them to add articles to the Blog. Always remember to add the company logo, name and any other identifying features to the background.

Once you have that in place you could consider joining one or more of the social networking sites. Choose carefully because there are many out there with some being just a waste of your time. Facebook and MySpace are two of the more popular ones. After joining you can start a group or become a member of a group whose primary interest is your type of business, product or service.

This is a good starting point and once you begin to understand how Social Media Networking operates you can expand your involvement to other areas of interest. Remember Social Networking is the new wave and ignoring it as a strategy to add to your marketing mix could be devastating to your enterprise.

Social marketing is just a smart idea. It’s not just a slogan, public service announcement, or one-time communication or mass media campaign. Social marketing is a powerful tool that can improve an individual’s, a group’s, or a society’s welfare. Social marketing is a relatively new, often misunderstood form of online marketing that is reaping huge rewards for website owners who incorporate it into their marketing plan.

Website Traffic Is The Lifeline Of Any Internet Business

If you are like most people, you will spend countless hours trying to BuildTraffic to your website. Did you know that over 80% of website traffic is the result of search engines? If you want to increase the number of visitors to your website it is crucial that you have a top search engine position.

As you may already know, getting a good search engine ranking is next to impossible without optimization. Just submitting your website to the search engines will not get you a top search engine ranking. You also need to properly optimize your website in order to increase your search engine ranking. Once you have achieved a good search engine position only then will you start to see thousands of people visiting your website each and every day.

Some companies offer advertising schemes that, in return for increased web traffic (visitors), pay for screen space on the site. Sites also often aim to increase their web traffic through inclusion on search engines and through Search engine optimization.

Anyone knows that once you stop paying for your pay per click results, you will stop getting website traffic. Articles on the other hand always stay on the pages of a high traffic website if added. This is like opening a shop in a busy shopping mall. You get more targeted website visitors this way quite easily. Once readers read the targeted articles and then click through to your website, they are in the mood to read whatever offers that you can sell and you tend to make more money this way as they treat you as an expert if they like your article. Thus in article marketing, you get traffic on a continuing basis and not just when you pay for it.

Website traffic is a graph of the number of people visiting your site. The Internet is a strange place. However, there is a lot more going on. A web site sees a wide variety of traffic, and only a portion of it has a person sitting on the other end. There are thousands of companies building tools that visit and gather information from websites. Search engines are similar. They visit and cache content on a list of websites (Google claims 3.3 billion pages). If something is found, they contact you and offer their services. It’s all pretty clever.

The basis of Search Engine Optimization ( SEO ) today is based on PageRank and website traffic. The major search engines today looks at the number of inbound links from targeted website pointing to your website. This means that if you have a cooking website, the more links to your website from cooking websites the better.

Article marketing works in the same way as if your business is on health for instance and you write health articles, your publishers are going to be health websites and your PageRank due to the number of inbound links pointing at your website will increase. Your search engine rankings will also start climbing and you will start getting more targeted website traffic and make more money.

Some links to your site will come naturally if your site has good content. Most businesses augment those natural links with well placed links in quality directories. Quality directories market to bring traffic to their sites. That traffic can easily search the categories to find the exact business they are looking for and follow the link to your site. Marketing online is about giving potential clients as many paths to your website as possible so they can find you.

Can you find where your web site is located on any of the “Big Three”? If not, then your small business is lost in cyberspace and you are not getting the increased web site traffic that you need to grow your business. You need to increase your web traffic. You do NOT need a flashy web site to increase your web site trafficnor should you have one if that is your specific intent.

One way to use free traffic exchanges to your advantage is to join a few at first, and see if your sales pick up. If your sales aren’t doing well, then test out a few more. When you do find a few traffic exchanges that appear to be generating sales for you, then narrow those down until you find the one, or two that are working.

Now concentrate your efforts on those because they’re the ones you want. At least for now anyway. Things may change, so keep an eye on your campaigns and if sales seem to be falling off, then it might be time to change your offer or find another traffic exchange that could pick your profits up again.

Listen carefully when someone tells you how much traffic their website handles. It used to be common to talk about “hits”. A hit is any file that gets downloaded from the server. A single page often requires 20 or more different files and thus would register 20 hits. If a single visitor clicks on 10 pages it would register as 200 hits. It sounds low when you realize that most of that traffic probably comes from the 100 advertisers.

It all boils down to one thing. The more web site traffic you can gain the more important you become to the engines. The more important you become to the search Google, Yahoo and MSN, the more you will find that increasing your web site traffic will be easier to do.

It’s a fact that a website needs traffic to exist. Popunder traffic helps you increase traffic to your site and increased website traffic means increased sales. Popunder website traffic is a widely accepted form of website promotion. 11

Getting traffic to a website is fundamental to the success of any online business.

Generating large volumes of traffic to go to your website essentially means that you have a lot of visitors going to your website. But are they converting to sales for you If you are just generating traffic, this does not necessarily mean your conversion rate is high.

In considering all a webmaster’s options to increase website traffic, you have to consider what website traffic really means — and how you get it. When someone searches for a website to help with a problem, that person uses a search engine like Google.

Every webmaster dreams of getting so much traffic from the search engines that it overloads the circuits of their web hosting provider’s network.

What Are Forums?

26 May.
Posted by canuckbob in Building Traffic | Comments Off

Forums are one of the lesser-known marketing techniques that can increase traffic and sales on your website. Forums are an instrument used to communicate and collaborate with others. They are like social mixers, where everyone is on an equal level, socializing and discussing with others. You must be registered to post in forums and some of the forums are not seen unless you are logged in.

Internet forums are also commonly referred to as Web forums, message boards, discussion boards, electronic discussion groups, discussion forums, bulletin boards, or simply forums. Messages within sub-forums are displayed either in chronological order or as threaded discussions. Discussion forums are also referred to as “threaded discussion lists” or “bulletin boards”.

Forums differ from chat rooms and instant messaging in that forum participants do not have to be online simultaneously to receive or send messages. Forum etiquette can vary on different forums and they have become a common feature on many websites. They can be “closed” or “open” in terms of membership.

“Closed” means an administrator decides who can participate, while “open” means anyone can sign on to the forum. Forum categories represent a collection of forums as well as other categories. They are the areas where individual discussions take place as a listing of topics. Posts are easy to search and to read through. You can find just the posts you want very easily.

One significant difference between forums and electronic mailing lists is that mailing lists automatically deliver new messages to the subscriber, while forums require the member to visit the website and check for new posts.

Because members may miss replies in threads they are interested in, many modern forums offer an “e-mail notification” feature, whereby members can choose to be notified of new posts in a thread, and web feeds that allow members to see a summary of the new posts using aggregator software. Client software aggregators are installed applications designed to collect Web feed subscriptions and group them together using a user friendly interface.

Users sometimes post versions of a message that are only slightly different, especially in forums where they aren’t allowed to edit their earlier posts. Multiple posting instead of editing prior posts can artificially inflate a user’s post count.

In many forums which have editing allowed they have rules asking people not to make multiple posts, and also use a common plug-in to merge double posts, without an administrator/moderator having to manually delete or merge the posts. You do have to Register for many features and functions such as E-Mail Digests, Notification of New Posts and/or Threads, Personal Messaging and downloading of Post Attachments for them to work.

As crazy as the forums are, it is a real community builder that I doubt will ever be replaced. In order for forums to disappear entirely you would need something just as effective to replace them. Forums are a place where users of all types come together to discuss issues, trivial or serious. They are just what the word means, a place to gather ideas from varying and differing points of view, and it’s OK if not everyone agrees.
