Blogs are here to stay and many work at home Moms are taking advantage of the trend. Making money with blogs is a very popular choice for many Moms who work from home. They’re simple to set up, and just as easy to update when needed. This is especially true when you compare blogs to other types of websites that work at home Moms could create. Within just a few moments, you could set up a professional looking blog for absolutely no cost and start blogging your way to success.

If you aren’t familiar with a blog, it is a website that is generally created for free through various companies that offer blogging services. It looks very much like a journal. When you make an entry in the blog, also called a post, they are added in sequential order with the newest posts being listed first.

Blog posts are usually short articles of around 200 to about 500 words and can contain anything you’d like to talk about from your family, friends to your business and special sales you may be having.

When you have a blog that you post to regularly, your options are wide open. Choosing a topic to write about is simply as easy as looking into your own business life. As a work at home Mom, you probably have questions that you receive frequently from your customers, you may have special deals that happen several times a year, your customers might want to know more about your product, what it contains, and how it compares to the competition.

The topic you choose to write about in your blog should be closely related to your business. Consider looking at other blogs that talk about the topic you’re considering. What do they talk about? How do they handle the questions that come in?

Be careful that you stick to the topic at hand. It can be tempting to talk about your children, or what happened with you personally and once every so often is quite all right, but you need to keep your blog focused on its primary purpose; bringing you in an income as a work at home Mom.

There are many ways that you can start a blog. One of them is simply by doing a simple search in your favorite search engine and look for the term “free blog”. Most blogs are very user friendly and you can be up and running in just moments.

As a work at home Mom, it is important that you get seen in as many places as possible in order to grow a successful business. While there are other avenues that you can eventually take in growing your business, you’re first money-saving stop should be a blog.

Just remember to keep it informative, full of interesting tidbits and you answer any questions that arise in a timely and professional manner. Keeping your blog updated and relevant will keep people coming back and the more they get to know you, the more likely they’ll be to do business with you.

Blog Marketing: Where to Start

Maybe you have just read something about how Blogs can help you establish a web presence, but you are not sure how to start. Here is a guide and a few tips to get you started and increase your Internet traffic. Blogs can help any business, but they require research, maintenance, and creative writing skills.

Firstly, decide if a Blog is right for you by visiting
Blogs. Go to Blogger, then use the search Blogs function. When you arrive at Blog Search beta, enter keywords related to your particular business niche. You must have passion about your specific niche in order to keep posting about it.

A tour of Blogs will open your mind to the number of different conversations about your niche and the variety of approaches to Blogs. You will notice that some Blogs have many posts about a specific subject. These “Bloggers” are excited about their subject and that is why they attract traffic. Some Blogs run like an open diary, and at this time, most don’t have anything to do with business or marketing.

The constant posting and reciprocal linking between Blogs are just two of many reasons why Blogs are successful “traffic magnets.” If you are in business, ou may elect to have a Blog similar to those on Blogger or you might have a web host that already has this feature with your web site package. The Blog attached to a business website is really more of a “Corporate Blog” concept, but you can use this approach as a tool to draw much more traffic to your current web site.

You should discuss your options with all interested parties, your web master, and web designer. You don’t have to have an outside web designer or web master in order to start a Blog, but if you already have people in place, why not get an informed opinion.

Let us assume that you have chosen a path at this point. Gather any past articles that you have written about your business, modify them for keyword content, and start posting. The more often you post, the better it will be, and posting daily is optimum.

When you post articles, include the URL of your Blog. You might want to add a signature similar to this.

FREE (Your Business Niche) Report.

FREE (Your Business Niche) Newsletter.

Visit: (Your Blog)

FREE CONTENT: If you are a web master, blogger, e-zine, or Internet publisher, and can use quality content, please feel free to use my blog entries (articles) – Please be sure to reprint each article, as is, and please include the resources in the above paragraph. Thank you, (Your Name).

Every time someone posts one of your articles with your resource box, that’s one more link back to your Blog. If your articles or Blog entries are perceived as valuable, you are creating more traffic for yourself. Most of the web sites that post your articles will be from the same or a related niche. These become valuable links because their readers are already interested in your article topics.

You should also include your Blog URL at the bottom of all your Emails as a standard part of your signature with your name, address, telephone number, and other contact information. If you have room on your business card and stationary, please make room for your Blog URL.

Lastly, a content rich Blog is a great compliment to any Email marketing campaign. Unfortunately, reaching interested prospects and customers by Email is not what it used to be. Over aggressive spam filters throw out a good percentage of legitimate Email, but an interesting Blog will keep your customers and prospects coming back for more.

Tired of SEO Theories and Algorithms: Try Blogging

Most of the local business owners, who I know, still don’t have a web presence -for a combination of reasons. Many business owners are from my age group and don’t feel comfortable setting up a website. So, they pay somebody else to do it or it never gets done. There are a multitude of reasons to avoid launching your business on the web, and all of them are “lame excuses.”

As I travel around town, I get to hear all the excuses. “I’m too old,” “Our business isn’t the Internet type,” and “I don’t know HTML.” You can tell everybody else those excuses, but do you want to grow your business or not? The vast majority of small
businesses fail, and the Internet is the cheapest form of advertising available.

If haven’t launched a website or Blog, you are delaying business marketing progress for nothing. Take a computer class, learn from your kids, or learn from your grandchildren, but start as soon as possible. Perhaps, your grandchild can earn some money teaching you how to make even more money.

Blogs are easy to start with, since you don’t need to have any HTML knowledge. You can also go to Blogger, and get a free Blog. It might take you 10 to 15 minutes to set up and start posting information right away.

Some website hosts work like that too, but let’s assume you have a site of some kind. Did you know your website host might have a Blog feature built in, at no extra charge? If you have this feature, you can easily build a commercial Blog.

For a small business, with a website and commercial Blog, you should be able to establish your natural search engine rankings. Sometimes, these are called “organic rankings” and you don’t have to pay a penny for them. It may take a few months or more to establish yourself, and you should make regular posts.

For optimum results, your regular posts can be daily, a few times per week, or once a week. More postings are much better and will have significant impact on your rankings. Search engines love frequent posts, such as those found in Blogs.

Instead of worrying about Google algorithms, and SEO(search engine optimization) theories, go back to the basics and boost your rankings with content. Most of us have heard, “Content is King,” and it is totally true.

So what do you say about your business? Tell your established customers and prospects about your service and products. Explain what your unique selling proposition (USP) is. This is what makes you different from similar businesses in your town.

When you have new products, or are looking for feedback about new product development, a Blog is extremely useful. Your customers and prospects can leave you feedback, so marketing research is very easy.

Lastly, don’t shy away from a “gold mine.” Free advertising is too valuable to ignore. Blogs are the advertising bargain of the decade and possibly, of the 21st century.
