What Does Credit Cards Have To Do With Credit Reporting

01 Jul.
Posted by promax in Credit | No Comments

In this day in age, credit cards are extremely important and popular. It is estimated that millions of people carry at least one credit card, this does not account for people who carry two or more. Credit cards are readily available, they are available to people with good credit and even people with bad credit. However, the one thing for any credit card holder to remember is that they tend to have a great impact, good or bad, on a person’s credit report.

You and the creditors should view credit reports as very important. Bankers and lenders evaluate your credit and determine your credit worth before you can get a credit card or loan.

In fact, the credit report is the most important aspect of this process that it can literally make or break the decision. Credit cards are the number one reason why so many people suffer from ugly credit reports and it is important to take steps to avoid these ugly instances.

For the most part, people are responsible with their use of credit cards and do not allow them to get out of control. This allows them to show credit worthiness to creditors and lenders, which allows them to gain more credit and more loans. However, too many accounts open at once could damage your credit without you even knowing it. In fact, if you have too many accounts open at the same time, creditors will be less likely to extend you more credit, with fear that you are over extending yourself and will run into a bad situation when it comes to payment time.

Two or more credit cards sometimes can hurt someone’s credit instead of helping them. Too many cards can show to a lender that there could be problems facing your credit. The job of the lender is to try to oversee any type of risk, where the worst can occur when reviewing credit card and loan applications. The more you understand about your credit report and the the effect it has on your life the better off you will be.

All the information on your credit report will influence the way you will be able to obtain good credit. The credit report will be the key factor in deciding if you can get a loan, credit cards, credit of any type, jobs, or where you can live. Credit cards greatly influence credit reports so use them wisely. Make prompt payments, do not miss a payment, and keep balances low.

Missed or late payments can quickly damage your credit report, even if it is just one. This typically is noted on the credit report and other potential lenders will see this. If it becomes a habit, your credit rating will plummet and the negative impact will become noticeable.

Be responsible and safe with credit card use. Make sure you carry not more than one to two cards at any time and keep an eye on their usage. Make your payments on time and you will find your credit report stays safe and sound.

Techniques How To Meditate

01 Jul.
Posted by timowri in Meditation | No Comments

Many people have asked about different techniques how to meditate. There are a variety of different ways, but the basic principles are universal.

Meditation in some form or another seems to be a part of most cultures. The methods and techniques are different, of course, but the practice of meditation in some form is found almost everywhere

The most common techniques of meditation as a formal practice most likely developed somewhere in the East. India is the most probable birthplace of formal meditation techniques, although various forms of meditation were very common in places like China and Japan.

Transcendental Meditation was introduced to the West in 1958 by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, a spiritual guru from India. This popular technique of meditation first gained mass exposure in the 1960’s when Maharishi was visited by the Beatles. This method of meditation employs the use of a mantra or “sacred sound” that is given by a guru or teacher.

The practice of meditation usually involves sitting quietly in an environment where you will not be disturbed or distracted. Most people begin by closing their eyes and focusing on their breathing while allowing their body to relax.

Many people associate meditation with sitting on the ground in the “lotus” position with their legs crossed. The most important thing, however, is to be comfortable. Many people like to sit in a chair with their feet on the floor. Most experts think that it’s important to be sitting erect while meditating. Lying down to meditate can often result in falling asleep instead and missing out on the true benefits that meditation offers.

It’s important to allow enough time for your mind and body to relax when first beginning to meditate. At first, you simply follow the rhythm of your breathing. Don’t try to force anything. As you are “watching” your breath your attention is on the process of inhaling and exhaling.

When distracting thoughts enter your mind - and it is “when,” not “if” these distracting thoughts come - it is best to just observe and accept them without judgment. Allow them to move through your conscious mind without focusing on them or allowing them to pull you away from your meditation practice. Trying to “resist” these kinds of thoughts will only give them more power and draw your attention away from the central purpose of the meditation.

Meditation can last from a few minutes to many hours. It is best to keep your meditation times short at first. It is seldom beneficial to meditate for more than an hour, even after years of experience. You should focus on quality, not quantity.

Many people experience an increased sense of awareness or “mindfulness” during and after meditating. They also often experience a greater sense of peace and wellbeing as distractions fall away. The results of meditation can be quite dramatic.

The benefits of meditation are well substantiated by modern science. Over six hundred academic and scientific studies have been done at more than two hundred independent research institutions in thirty-five countries. All attest to the physical, spiritual and psychological benefits of regular meditation.

Although the techniques how to meditate vary slightly from one culture to the next, the basic principles of relaxation and mindfulness are universal. Meditation is an excellent way to handle the stress of modern life and to regain the balance that many of us are missing.

Although meditation does not require formal training or education, the more you study the different methods and techniques available to you, the more you can benefit from this amazing tool.

What Is A Limited Liability Company Or LLC?

01 Jul.
Posted by CashMiller in Entrepreneurship | No Comments

An LLC is a legal form of business that has characteristics of both corporations and a partnership. This form of business offers limited liability protection to its owners. In other words the owners of the business cannot be held fully responsible for any debts that the business occurs or actions taken on its behalf. This type of business form is best suited for small businesses with that have a small number of owners and preferably just one.

So what are some of the basic characteristics of a Limited Liability Company? Well for starters the owners of an LLC are not partners or shareholders like they are in other forms of business they are members and every LLC has to have at least one member. Members of an LLC cannot be held personally liable for the debts of the company. This is the same as for a corporation. Just don’t make the mistake of signing any documents where you provide your personal guarantee that the company will pay a bill or honor an agreement. If the company for some reason does not pay that bill or live up to an agreement then you can be held liable.

So just like a corporation you as an owner can use an LLC as a form of protection for your personal assets. And depending on the type of business you want to form this can be extremely important if something were to happen. Because being an LLC also provides you with legal protection in case the company was to be sued for some reason. Sometimes being protected from your business is the most important thing of all.

Now how is a Limited Liability Company like a partnership? Plain and simple it’s all in the taxes. LLC’s are not subject to the double taxation rule imposed on corporations. To explain this rule is easy. If your business is a corporation and you make a profit for the year that profit must be taxed. After the profits are taxed then you as the owner may take the profits and issue them to yourself as the owner and any other people that own a percentage of the business. This of course is your dividend. Well the IRS views the dividend as personal income and it is again taxed as part or your personal taxes. In an LLC the profits are not taxed. They are distributed to the members based on whatever percentages have been previously worked out. Then they are only taxed as personal income when that person files their taxes for the year.

Also if the business loses money for the year all members of the LLC can deduct the equivalent loss percentage from their income. You’ll of course need supporting documents to prove the loss to the IRS. And if the members do want to leave their profits in the company for business purposes then the Limited Liability Company can file a tax return of its own.

What most people gain that form a Limited Liability Company is flexibility. You can structure the management however the members see fit. You have the protection of a corporation for your personal assets. And you can elect to either leave your profits in the company, have them taxed or the profits can be distributed and the members can pay the taxes themselves. But you avoid the double taxation penalty that corporations can incur.

Free Bets That Go Big Or Go Home

01 Jul.

You might be surprised how far your free bets will actually take you. Many of us know about such incentives on websites that are designed to let us try them for free, but many of us also think these offers are very minimal and not worth the bother. We’ve all experienced free offers that end up being way more work to sign up for than the freebies were really worth.

Well, if that is what you’ve thought about free bets on offer from betting sites, then you are quite mistaken! Take another look and a second take if you need to.

Many sites actually have some major free bets on offer. Some offer 10 pounds for some small free bets and that is a fairly routine incentive offer. But, look a little further and you will find some whopping 100 pounds or 125 pounds to use on these sites on bets! That is nothing to sneeze at, no matter how much money is in your gambling budget!

Special Offers

Now, there may well be a couple restrictions on the free bets offers that are of substantial amounts (what doesn’t have rules in this world?).

Some betting sites may be running a special on certain betting activities and so they will put these free bets up for specific types of bets. For example, a site may be promoting their sports betting for a time and so they put up a substantially sized initial offer to get people to try out their sports betting. Perhaps a site needs a little more public exposure on some of their more obscure betting activities and so they offer big free bets on those activities just to have you give it a go.

Freebies are a marketing tool for businesses. They are designed to persuade potential clients to try out products or services that they might decide to spend money on later (if they like the product or the service of course!). Freebies mean you can test drive betting sites before you have to spend a lot of money there. You can basically test out a site without having to waste money on a site that you don’t even like! If you don’t like it, you don’t ever have to go back - it is as simple as that. On the flip side, you might very well find that free bets are the gateway to your preferred betting site of all time!

Waste Not, Want Not

So, if you don’t fool around with silly little amounts of money and only go in for freebies if they are of a substantial size, you will be very pleased to know that there are some really big freebies out there for you.

Check in now and again for updated free bets with substantial size because betting sites switch up what they are promoting regularly and there will always be something new on offer. Take advantage and don’t waste a big freebie opportunity for lack of looking.

How Do Lasers Work?

01 Jul.
Posted by SuperFunScience in Science | No Comments

Almost all of us are acquainted with lasers, as we have used or seen lasers in action at some point of our lives. Lasers are used in a variety of places, like for pointers for a presentation in a corporate boardroom classroom or as a cat toy.

A closer example at home is the usage of lasers in the CD players, where a laser is used to read the information stored in the CD. A recent breakthrough in this field is BLU ray discs, in which a high intensity laser is used to read ultra high capacity discs.

Lasers also find intensive application in fields such as holography (holography is the art of etching a three-dimensional image onto a material using lasers - the type of laser depends upon the material to be etched). Apart from this, lasers are used by the military in many of their programs, to correct eye disorders by LASIK surgeries, and in industries that use dangerous chemicals to detect leakage.

So that’s what they’re used for, but we haven’t answered the question of what a laser actually is. LASER is an acronym that stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Now what this means is that lasers are basically tiny particles which are radiated, and these particles are converted to laser beams by manipulating them by a number of means.

Unlike white light which is made up of seven colors - ROY G BIV, or red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet, the seven colors which form the rainbow, lasers are usually made up of monochromatic (single-colored) light. This is because white light spreads out as it travels, but monochromatic light is almost non divergent, that is it does not spread much even after traveling large distances.

This increases the range of the laser light. Moreover, normal white light will refract (bend) differently when it hits an object - each color bends at a slightly different angle. Monochromatic light only has to bend in one way, so it keeps its coherence (the ability of light rays to stay together as a bundle), so the laser stays more focused.

Monochromatic light can be generated by utilizing free electrons (electrons are very small parts of atoms which are the building blocks of all kinds of matter existing in the universe). Electrons, when highly energized, give out that energy in the form of radiation before coming back to their normal state.

Specific types of radiation can be created by electrons energized to specific energy levels, giving out single colored light. This light is then focused into a single powerful beam by one of several methods, such as by using a cathode tube or by utilizing ionized air in vacuum tubes.

The following is a list of the types of lasers and their applications, and shows that lasers can be produced by different methods:

*Dye Lasers- used for spectroscopy, various kinds of research, birthmark removal, and for separating isotopes. The range of this laser can be tuned by changing the kind of dye used.

*Free electron lasers- has various medical uses, and is used in atmospheric research and material science.

*Nickel-like samarium lasers- can be used for high resolution microscopy and holography.

*Raman lasers- used in creating optical signal amplification for telecommunications.

*Nuclear pumped lasers- currently being used for research.

Lasers, if used in the right way have innumerous applications, which are growing by the day, but they can also be devastating if used in the wrong way. Of course, always be careful when using, playing with or looking at lazers (such as when you play with a laser cat toy), they can be very damaging to your eyes (or your kitty’s) if you look directly at them.

Reap The Rewards Of Reading

01 Jul.
Posted by jennstromsteen in Personal Development | No Comments

What have you been reading lately?
When was the last time you read a book?
Do you read daily?

In a gathering, you can tell who the wide readers are. Wide readers think and speak well. They win the admiration, respect, and good opinion of others.

Reading expands the mind. In fact, many people consider it as one of the more satisfying pleasures of humans, for it involves physical as well as mental activities.

Reading is primarily a mental activity. After all, you read with your mind and use your imagination to paint the setting of the detective thriller you are reading. You use you mind to imagine the pain that the main character experiences as the story unfolds. You bring into play the different arguments and ideas brought up by the author in that self-help book you are holding.

To read effectively, reading helps you develop a wide vocabulary through extensive reading. A skillful reader has a wide recognition vocabulary. He may not know exactly what every word means, but he will have a good general idea of the meaning of the sentence.

Reading makes you alert and curious about new words. Other readers develop the dictionary habit. Every time they come across a strange word, they try to figure out what it can possibly mean by the context. If they cannot do this, they refer to the dictionary.

Likewise, reading develops intellectual curiosity by exposing you to a variety of materials. You learn to read by reading books of increasing difficulty and variety. As in other forms of activity, you learn by actually doing.

Reading trains you to have an active and open mind. Merely grasping the writer’s idea is not enough. You must make a positive response to what you read. Be an active, not a passive, reader. Develop the habit of drawing your own conclusions, the habit of active thinking, of agreeing or disagreeing with the author. Keep your mind open; understand and weigh the ideas that you read. A practical part of active reading is the drawing of conclusions.

Allow me to share four basic rules for effective reading and better comprehension:

1) Try to read more and more. Remember the saying that practice makes perfect. Practicing in the correct way makes perfect.

2) Develop the habit of reading for main ideas. Look for the subject and predicate. Do not waste time on details or little words.

3) Learn to read with focus and concentration. Think of what you are reading. Do not let your attention wander somewhere else. Good readers read with understanding.

4) Learn to budget your time. Experiment with your reading time. Try purposely to read faster. Give yourself a time limit on specific material that you read.

Reading is a stimulating mental activity. It expands your reality and capability. You have so much to gain in discovering the joys of reading. Go ahead; grab a book right now!

How To Invest for Your Retirement

01 Jul.
Posted by Tradepla in Personal Finance | No Comments

Your retirement may be a long way off or it might be right around the corner. No matter how near or far it is, you absolutely have to start saving for it now. However, saving for retirement isn’t what it used to be with the increase in cost of living and the instability of the social security. You should invest for your retirement as opposed to saving for it!

First, you can invest in stocks, bonds, mutual funds, certificates of deposit, and money market accounts. You do not have to tell anyone that the returns on these investments are to be used for your retirement. Just simply let your money grow over time, and when certain investments reach their maturity, reinvest them and continue to let your money grow.

Long Term Investments for the Future
If you are ready to invest money for a future event, such as retirement or a child’s college education, you have several options. You do not have to invest in risky stocks or ventures. You can easily invest your money in ways that are very safe, which will show a decent return over a long period of time.

Do Your Research Before You Invest - The important thing is to do your research before investing your money for long term gain. When purchasing stocks you should choose stocks that are well established. When you look for a mutual fund to invest in, choose a broker that is well established and has a proven track record. If you aren’t quite ready to take the risks involved with mutual funds or stocks, at the very least invest in bonds that are guaranteed by the Government.

Bonds - First consider bonds. There are various types of bonds that you can purchase. Bond’s are similar to Certificates of Deposit. Instead of being issued by banks, however, bonds are issued by the Government. Depending on the type of bonds that you buy, your initial investment may double over a specific period of time.

Mutual Funds - Mutual funds are also relatively safe. Mutual funds exist when a group of investors put their money together to buy stocks, bonds, or other investments. A fund manager typically decides how the money will be invested. All you need to do is find a reputable, qualified broker who handles mutual funds, and he or she will invest your money, along with other client’s money. Mutual funds are a bit riskier than bonds.

Stocks - Stocks are another vehicle for long term investments. Shares of stocks are essentially shares of ownership in the company you are investing in. When the company does well financially, the value of your stock rises. However, if a company is doing poorly, your stock value drops. Stocks, of course, are even riskier than Mutual funds. Even though there is a greater amount of risk, you can still purchase stock in sound companies, such as G & E Electric, and sleep at night knowing that your money is relatively safe.

Individual Retirement Account (IRA) - You can also open an Individual Retirement Account (IRA). IRA’s are quite popular because the money is not taxed until you withdraw the funds. You may also be able to deduct your IRA contributions from the taxes that you owe. An IRA can be opened at most banks. A ROTH IRA is a newer type of retirement account. With a Roth, you pay taxes on the money that you are investing in your account, but when you cash out, no federal taxes are owed. Roth IRA’s can also be opened at a financial institution.

401(k) - Another popular type of retirement account is the 401(k). 401(k) are typically offered through employers, but you may be able to open a 401(k) on your own. You should speak with a financial planner or accountant to help you with this. The Keogh plan is another type of IRA that is suitable for self employed people. Self-employed small business owners may also be interested in Simplified Employee Pension Plans (SEP). This is another type of Keogh plan that people typically find easier to administer than a regular Keogh plan.

Whichever retirement investment you choose, just make sure you choose one! Again, do not depend on social security, company retirement plans, or even an inheritance that may or may not come through! Take care of your financial future by investing in it today.
