Champions Set Goals, Losers Set Resolutions

04 Mar.

Yes you read that right. New Year’s resolutions are for losers!

I am sure by now many people are asking each other what their resolutions are for next year. What a joke. Resolutions are made only because of peer pressure. Wanting to be thought of as one of the gang, we all have fallen for this in the past. Well today I am suggesting to you that you give up the act of setting New Year’s resolutions.

Who keeps them anyway? I defy you to find 3 people who can remember their resolutions from last year much less those who actually followed through. So here is some advice for this year, be abnormal, don’t set resolutions, be a champion and set goals.

What is the difference you might ask? Well, the difference is commitment. Goals are things that we are dedicated to achieving. Resolutions are things we set to impress others.

Here are my 7 keys to achieving any goal!

1) Know what your goal is. Think it over and decide what it is you truly want. Decide today to make it a priority and develop an attitude that you are going to make it happen.

2) Overcome your own fear of achieving the goal. Yes we will have some fear of the process, the way people will think of us, and other things that we are sure to come up.

3) Overcome the obstacles that present themselves. Remember challenges are there to determine how committed you are. They present themselves to weed out the weak. Don’t be dismayed stay on course. Figure a way through or around.

4) Overcome Negative People. Other people around you will not always be supportive. You need to delete the negative people from your lives. They are the ones who are going nowhere and do not have their own goals. So just leave them behind

5) Take action everyday. You goal needs action everyday to be achieved. So don’t let a day go by without some action to move you forward.

6) Don’t let failure defeat you. Along the way you are likely to fail to meet a certain standard or objective. Don’t let that failure defeat you. Rethink your plan and try again. Winners are not only the ones who finish first, sometimes they are the ones who finish.

7) Repeat steps 1-7 as often as needed. The steps are not set in any order and you may face them at different times and more than once. But keep your goal in front of you in pictures to remind you of the goal you are after, and keep going. Don’t quit. Your goal will be reached sooner that you ever thought possible.

So go out there are set Goals and use these steps to achieve them. Face your future and decide today to make it happen.
