EVE Online Mining: Getting Ahead

As with any other similar world, EVE Online will require you to find a way to finance your purchase of weaponry and ships, and one of the best ways to do so in this MMORPG is to take a look at mining. It is less time-intensive and less dangerous than things like working as a messenger or as a bounty hunter. After you have acquired a frigate that has some mining capability, you’ll soon see that EVE Online mining as a career option is an excellent way to move ahead when it comes to this game world.
When you are looking to start mining, particularly if you are just getting started in the game in general, you will want to stick with the low-grade asteroids. Look around for the common ores and you’ll find that you might build up more quickly than you think. When you are starting out, you have a very low-quality mining laser, and you simply won’t be able to access the more valuable ores. As a miner, one of the bigger problems you’ll run into are pirates. The more valuable the ore gets, the more pirates will be lurking around, so make sure that you don’t reduce your shiny new ship to scrap by biting of more than you can chew!
When you get started, you’ll have some money that you’ve made from the tutorial missions, and you’ll find that you can purchase a Miner 1 from the market. You may also wish, starting out, to purchase a survey scanner and the survey skill to give you a better shot at locating the ore. When you are getting started, remember that the systems you look for should range from a 1.0 to 0.8 when it comes to security and that it should have less than 30 pilots in it.
Be aware that the system you start out in might already be quite mined out, so be prepared to do some searching. Remember that you need to restrict travel a little, especially at the beginning, so try to keep your mining expeditions less than five gate jumps away from your current situation. You’ll also want to note that the area you choose to mine should have refining services (which will increase the value of your ore) and market services.
When you are looking to mine ore, remember that you should make good use of your bookmark function. When you find a good asteroid, bookmark it so that you can return easily, but one thing that you can do is bookmark a position that is about 15 kilometers beyond the asteroid, allowing your next warp to put you exactly where you want to be so that you can start mining immediately.
While there are many career pats that you could choose, EVE Online mining can be quite rewarding and can be a great way for you to build up some cash!
