The problem with conventions is that they make people complacent and comfortable. They deduce laziness even out of the most innocent individuals. Conventions make the mind dull and life boring. Conventions deny the human mind the ability to be imaginative and creative. Conventions take away your ability to achieve uniqueness and therefore you become more or less a copy cat.

Body building is largely an individual’s venture. Though it is good to have a standard operation mode, the modus oparedi, as they cal it, it is also good to encourage novelty, since it is out novelty that innovation and creativity emerges. In setting you body building goals, you must at all times strive not to do things the way they have been done since ages past, not to do things they are done, but to go beyond what is at present into the future.

If it is thought that you can only build muscles to a certain extent in a certain time, then it is worth setting goals not only to achieve that conventional limit, but higher and then doing all that is humanly possible to pursue those goals set beyond conventions.

In your ability and potential, you have the mandate to take body building as an industry to new horizons. You have the mandate to go beyond the present conventions and bring to us the future. Someone went beyond conventions in the ancient German village, worked his physique and started holding shows for body builders. In that act of doing something beyond conventional, the father of body building gave his very best. Someone came up with the modern conventions of training and dieting and at the time, these novel strategies were beyond conventions. You must therefore move beyond these conventions, to set the pace and define what tomorrow’s conventions shall be.

To do this, first list down all the obstacles you have in the pursuit of your potential. List down those things that you must overcome as an individual so as top attain the maximal gains in the shortest time possible, without resulting to such short cuts as steroids and supplement abuse. Success after all is achieved and not made. After knowing what huddles you have, it is good to determine how to overcome them. You might find or fail to identify any of the conventional solutions available that would work for you. If there is nothing available, or when the conventional ways of doing it are not working for you, it is time to go beyond conventions.

To do this, after careful research into the industry to see what has been done, how it has been done in line with your specific areas of interest, you must then strive to convince yourself that it is indeed possible to reach these goals. Imagine yourself reaching the goals via a non-conventional way and inspiring future generations to take the industry further. Then you must continually improve on the strategies and evaluate success versus conventional means and establish whether your strategy is working. If it is not, modify it accordingly and keep the pursuit on. Soon enough, you will have done us proud.
